I'm Back!

It's been a long time! And I'm back.
I miss the constant push to write a blog post everyday, to everyone it meant english homework yet to me it meant an opportunity to write. Today, as I went passed my folders, deleting all my old documents, I came across my blog. At first, I laughed and a sudden urge of posting my high school work ran across my mind. So, here is one of my favourite written pieces and its called Alessandra Brambilla.

As I walk down the halls of my extravagant palace, I watch my feet take steps along the white Italian tiles, the undefying sound of my strutting steps makes me sound like a clockwork soldier. Everytime I come this way, it turns my stomach. Agostino, my architect should have never made these passages so narrow, the endless sound of the wind echoes through the passage, sending shivers down my spine. The dust always settles on this passage, and no matter how many servants I send down there, it always remains feculent, it’s like she is always there, watching my every move.
Alessandra Brambilla was my wife, it was during the summer of 1968 that I killed her. I still remember that reckless night where darkness lurked from behind each wall of my extravagant palace, the feeling was familiar. I felt the same shivers go down my spine, though it wasn’t  because of the sinister act I was about to perform but the act of murder brought to life my again.

Murder was always the remedy to a problem for me. I knew the act of murder well, along with the thrilling shivers it brought along. Alessandra Brambilla was the woman I loved, the woman I most cared for and the woman who was carrying my gorgeous child. Tonight seemed a lot like that night. As I walk down the hall, I see her ghastly portrait and those eyes- those eyes, I can see them burn through my heart like a blazing sword. Her deathly pale face contrasted with her white gown sunk in a pool of blood brought the feeling of satisfaction to my mind.

There are so many questions rushing through my mind, yet I am unable to answer them. The feeling of contentment is in my mind when I recall that dreadful night, but, a feeling of pain and torture overcomes that night when I walk through these halls. Alexandra Brambilla always had a dominant control over me, always busy clutching after gold, I could never disacknowledge her. Yet, I always sat there like a frightened calf, eyes cast down because she knew that, she knew I was helpless.

My view of poems

The road not taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

This poem above is perhaps one of my favorite poems. It has a meaning to it and the author expresses his dilemma infront of everyone. It shows how choosing a path can be difficult and how choices make all the difference.

Yesterday, In english we learnt what the difference between a poem and something poetic is. We learnt how poems don't have to rhyme and how they express feelings. We also tried to interpret the difference between a poem and a prose. To many, it seemed that they were pretty much the same. But according to me, they have  difference. When you're writing a poem, you have a limited space to share your ideas because it gets boring, but when you're writing a prose, you can use all your perspectives and aims and the length can be as long as it wants to.

After watching Dr Pritchard's video on the analogy of poetry, I had a completely different perspective of it. It isn't graphs or something like science which you need to study for. It's a beauty, it's natural and its something people love to do.

Poems have always been something unique for me and I love to write poems because it comes to me naturally! Poems are a beauty, and we should all appreciate it.

Mysterious Murders in Singapore?

There have been a number of mysterious deaths in singapore over the past few months. Whenever I decide to read the newspaper, The only thing that astonishes and catches my attention is the murders in Singapore. Me, living in Singapore for more than 13 years have never encountered such news as I have always thought of the police here to be the best. I know...I know...My opinion is very stereotypical but it's true!

There has been a number of mysterious murders and deaths of people near the Bedok reservoir. Many bodies have been recovered there and the killer is still on the loose. The death of American, Shane Todd is one of the deaths that have recently caught my attention. Was it a suicide or was it a murder? This is a question circling around my head. He was found hanging dead in his apartment in June last year. It is not clear if he was killed or he committed suicide. Last year??!! Singapore police never takes so much time. Because of the delay of this case, The FBI was requested to assist this death.

There are many cases in Singapore that haven't got their answers. What is going on? I would love to hear your views!

What is the What- My Journey till now...

To be honest, I never liked the book 'What is the What' when I first started reading it. But now, because I am understanding the book, I feel it has a very deep understanding to it. It has this message which gives you a sudden urge to continue reading it. I now want to read the book to find out more about what's going to happen.. The feeling of curiously overwhelms me and I want to know what is going to happen to Valentino!

The shoreline and switching between flashbacks is one of the things I adore. At first I liked the present scenario more than the flashback to his past, but now I as I am getting closer to the way things are working, I feel the tension and the pain.

Once, while reading the book, There was a part in which food scarcity was an issue, That topic grabbed my attention so quickly that I felt so blessed to have food and decided not to waste any! I know...I know...It sounds weird but its true!

Although the book is long, 'What is the What' is a book of interest to me at the moment and I would love to know about it better as I go through it. I'm on track and want to know more about this book! Tell me your thoughts too! I would be glad to hear them :)

Is Blogging Useful?

'Blogging is a useful part of the English classroom". Yes, I think blogging is a an essential part of the english classroom for many of the following reasons. First of all, It helps our writing improve if we are consistent with it. Many people don't seem to be consistent but if you are, blogging really helps. Blogging helps you show the world the real 'you'. You might be a person who does not talk much in class but in a blog you can express anything that comes to your mind. A blog is your space, Its a space for your thoughts. A blog helps you begin a new social group. You start learning how to be social and start making new friends online. It becomes a new way of communication.

Blogging is one of the modern and recent ways you can use to write about something. Its a 'diary' of your thoughts. You can chose to make it private or you can chose to make it public. Its a new and amazing creation and must e used well. In english, You can make it useful, you can use it to help your understanding and you can use it to socialize in a safe way. Its helps you open up and people can know more about you and your thoughts. Sometimes, Blogs can become big and can create an impact. It can change people's opinions about certain things. A blogger is a person who has imagination  thoughts and creativity and with those qualities, anyone can be a blogger and blogging can become one of their hobbies.

By blogging, you can improve your copy-writing habit and try using your own words. Its good as you are not assigned a fixed topic bit are open to anything we wish to write about. It's a free space and its your space. No one can force you and no one can invade it.

Last thing is that it helps you earn money. Its a way where your hobby can become a profession and you can become big. Blogging for me, is one of the only ways for the people to know who I am and what I like. Blogging surely helps you learn better and communicate more with people in your english classroom or outside. A blogger is a true hero/

How to write about India

After reading 'how to write about Africa' in english today, I decided to write one about my country, India. Here it goes...

When you write about indians, Always remember to show the caste, illiteracy, and many inequalities. Try and use statistics like how 80% of the population lives on farms or how 50% of the population is illiterate. Other than percentages, use population figures. 4,32, 1235 houses do not have more than 12 volts of electricity for 3 days of the week would make a great sentence. Try to describe India as a poor, religious and bright country. Use a range of indian words/names to make your sentence eye catching like Vikram shouted,"Beta! You left your scale". Show how the slow progress in india is going.

Remember not to whine too much, Try to keep to the topic and show you're an indian. Do not repeat the point in different ways for the reader to understand. Use key words like myth,Poor, beggar etc. Show the amount of beggars to get sympathy from the reader. Compare the life of an educated professional with a gardener and say that the gardener earns about 1/10th of what the professional earns.

Somewhere just before the end, mention that India's progress has not benefited anybody. Do not talk about people who have gotten out of poverty thanks to this progress. Also, NEVER compare india to other countries like China because that can cause a big impact. Remember that indians are very strong emotionally and can handle any kind of difficult circumstances. They can erupt or keep quiet.

Use all this information and keep your article good and short. Good luck!
